Scena Theatre

Since 1987, Scena has been bringing international theatre to the nation’s capital. Artistic Director Robert McNamara oversees an annual season of plays, workshops and new work development. Scena also sponsors the Washington International Theatre Festival. Scena doesn’t just bring international works here; it exports its work abroad, taking productions to Edinburgh, Scotland, Slovenia and Italy. Seasons past have featured productions of “The Maids” by Jean Genet, “The Fever” by Wallace Shawn and “Orestes” by Euripides.
