Artistic Director, Molly Smith, has shepherded Arena into being the largest theater in North America by focusing on American writers. World premieres have included Paula Vogel’s “How I Learned to Drive,” Moises Kaufman’s “33 Variations,” and “Passion Play: A Cycle” by Sarah Ruhl. Arena was the pioneer of the regional theatre movement, and they've been in production continuously since 1950. Arena has an extensive outreach and education program including Camp Arena, Student Playwrights Project and internships for emerging artists of color.
